A view of Derbent fortress, the city and the Caspian Sea. Derbent Fortifications is one of the most popular attractions of the Republic of Dagestan in southern Russia.
The 6th-century-fortress which was built during the reign of Persian emperor Khosrow Anushirvan, is locally known as ‘Naryn-Kala’.
